About the role

We are looking for a Data Engineer to support us in extracting relevant data from the Ethereum blockchain. In this role, your primary responsibilities will be creating and maintaining data pipelines, building out our data infrastructure, and supporting other teams in their data needs The ideal candidate is passionate about working with the data and creating impact from the ground up in a fast-paced environment

What you’ll do

• Partner with different stakeholders within the company to understand and address their data needs
• Create, maintain, and optimize data pipelines and queries and facilitate easy consumption of data results. This includes designing and implementing scalable data storage and processing solutions, setting up monitoring and alerting systems to detect issues early, and ensuring data quality and integrity
• Build the infrastructure required for performant extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources
• End-to-end ownership of all engineering aspects of the solution. Deploy inclusive data quality checks, tests, and code review processes to ensure the high quality and correctness of data
• Ensure that the company’s data handling processes are secure and compliant with relevant regulations. This includes implementing appropriate access controls, encryption, and other security measures to protect sensitive data
• Connect with the Ethereum community, follow trends, and stay up to date about new analytical tools that help extract relevant data from the blockchain

Who you are

• Strong technical background with a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics and/or Engineering
• Experience in designing, implementing, deploying, and maintaining efficient data architectures
• Proficiency in Python and/or other modern programming language development experience
• Proficiency in querying databases and data modeling, in particular SQL and relational databases experience
• Experience in working with blockchain data from 3rd party providers (including blockchain APIs): Dune Analytics, Etherescan, Coingeko, etc
• Knowledge of cloud computing platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• You are obsessed with numbers and a strong believer in data-driven decision-making, able to analyze and interpret complex data sets and draw meaningful insights from them
• Self-motivated and proactive team player, approach problems creatively and find effective solutions, able to multi-task and also work independently
• Passionate for engineering best practices such as code reviews, testing, continuous integration, and delivery
• Passionate about crypto and blockchain technology, a strong believer in its potential to transform industry

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, senior backend engineer to help us build the next generation of decentralised trading protocols. As a dedicated backend engineer, you will gain ownership of our existing backend services and influence the creation, design, and execution of future features and products. You will work on technically challenging aspects of our off-chain services and our developer-facing APIs and help ensure the delivery of reliable and performant features to improve CoW Protocol.

What you will do

• Architect and design our off-chain services (core auction protocol as well as the orderbook) to support feature growth and the rapidly changing requirements that come from being an application on a constantly evolving blockchain.
• While your focus will be writing concurrent backend systems in Rust, you will also interact with our Smart Contracts written in Solidity and develop your understanding of auction mechanisms and DeFi protocols
• Work closely with researchers and the product team to ship features and come up with new solutions for challenging technical problems
• Deliver high-quality code for features from concept until production (including state-of-the-art monitoring of our production systems)
• Help our engineering team maintain and improve the reliability of the existing features and join in the on-call rotation
• Give thoughtful and in-depth code reviews of your colleagues’ contributions to our open-source codebase

Who you are

• You have at least 1 year + of productional experience with Rust (experience with C++ is a great bonus)
• You have excellent computer science, programming, and algorithmic skills
• Experience in web3 (ideally DeFi and Ethereum blockchain)
• Experience with operating, maintaining, and architecting complex software systems
• You care deeply about the quality, readability, observability, and testability of your code
• You proactively give technical direction to improve performance, prevent issues, optimise data usage, and refactor the codebase
• You are a team player, strong communicator, and gladly share your expertise with others
• You collaborate effectively with a remote-first team on a large, open-source codebase
• Ideally, someone senior who can mentor colleagues and provide direction.

In this role you will:

• Develop, test, and deploy the smart contracts on the TON blockchain;
• Write technical documentation and instructions for using developed solutions;
• Collaborate with the frontend and backend teams to integrate smart contracts with the platform's user interface and logic, as well as with the rest of the team to ensure a smooth development process;
• Participate in code reviews making sure that the best practices and security standards are followed;
• Conduct thorough testing and audits of smart contracts to ensure their security and reliability;
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in blockchain development.

We expect you to:

• Have proven experience in developing smart contracts the TON blockchain using FunC;
• Have knowledge of FunC programming languages, and being able to understand Fift/TVM;
• Have skills in working with smart contract testing tools (e.g., Blueprint);
• Have strong understanding of blockchain concepts, including consensus mechanisms, cryptography, and tokenomics;
• Understand the basics of blockchain operation and decentralized applications;
• Have experience with blockchain platforms (ideally TON, but we’ll consider applicants with different background too);
• Have experience working with APIs and SDKs for interacting with the TON blockchain;
• Be familiar with smart contract security best practices and auditing tools;
• Have experience with version control systems like Git;
• Have excellent communication and collaboration skills;
• Have passion for building innovative and secure blockchain applications;
• Be fluent in English (at least B2 level).

It would be a plus if you have:

• Experience with other blockchain platforms (e.g. Ethereum, Solana, Polkadot);
• Knowledge of other programming languages for smart contract development (eg Rust);
• Experience in creating and managing staking pools;
• Understanding decentralized finance (DeFi) principles;
• Experience with JS/TS.
