About the Company

Gemini is a global crypto and Web3 platform founded by Tyler Winklevoss and Cameron Winklevoss in 2014. Gemini offers a wide range of crypto products and services for individuals and institutions in over 70 countries.

Crypto is about giving you greater choice, independence, and opportunity. We are here to help you on your journey. We build crypto products that are simple, elegant, and secure. Whether you are an individual or an institution, we help you buy, sell, and store your bitcoin and cryptocurrency.

At Gemini, our mission is to unlock the next era of financial, creative, and personal freedom.

In the United States, we have a flexible hybrid work policy for employees who live within 30 miles of our office headquartered in New York City and our office in Seattle. Employees within the New York and Seattle metropolitan areas are expected to work from the designated office twice a week, unless there is a job-specific requirement to be in the office every workday. Employees outside of these areas are considered part of our remote-first workforce. We believe our hybrid approach for those near our NYC and Seattle offices increases productivity through more in-person collaboration where possible.

The Department: Crypto Core

The Role: Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure

The infrastructure team at Gemini creates and manages software tools and platforms, automates the creation and support of this infrastructure, helps integrate complex processes, and supports secure data access.

Security of customers’ digital assets and personal information held with Gemini is our first and foremost priority. The infrastructure team builds and operates environments for the purpose of digital asset access. There are three main pillars of work including building and running network nodes, building and running validators, and supporting our next generation wallet infrastructure. There are constant challenges in providing up to date data in our nodes to providing highly available specialty nodes to our stakeholders.

In our work, we build and use software to support our cloud-based infrastructure. Given the need to build and integrate more of our software in the cloud, the ideal engineer will have extensive experience in automating and building out cloud-based software (e.g., AWS or GCP), preferably with experience as a software developer that focuses on cloud-based automation approaches. This engineer will also work closely with various teams including various teams such as Product Security, Protocols, On-chain, and Asset Transfer.

We are a dynamic group with both entrepreneurial spirit and security engineering experience. We have incredibly high aspirations, and we are looking for like-minded individuals who want to guide the transition to a new more decentralized world where access to digital assets is normalized and ubiquitous.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and deploy infrastructure in our three areas of focus 1) building and running network nodes, 2) building and running validators, and 3) building and running our next generation wallet infrastructure
  • Develop tools and automation that integrate these systems in a secure way
  • With a focus on our next generation wallet infrastructure, improve the capabilities of the existing infrastructure with a mindset towards infrastructure as code
  • Improve availability and reliability while maintaining acceptable security, especially in monitoring and automation
  • Integrate the use of cloud-based security mechanisms into the build infrastructure. Example security mechanisms include identity and access management and key management
  • Participate in disaster recovery (DR) scenarios to validate operability of physical and digital material

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years implementing cloud software while building “infrastructure as code”
  • Experience in at least one area of software development, operating systems or device driver development, hardware, secure protocols, encryption, authentication, key management, or applied cryptography
  • Hands-on experience in at least one or more cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure, or others)
  • Hands-on expertise with one or more of the following including ansible, puppet, docker, KMS, IAM, jenkins
  • Proficiency in a common scripting language including but not limited to Python, Ruby, etc.
  • Able to troubleshoot and debug issues, and demonstrate a methodical approach to root cause analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; attentive to details

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ years implementing software
  • Ability to read and write code written in one or more of Go, Java, Scala, and C/C++
  • 3+ years implementing software in AWS
  • 1+ years using monitoring, alerting, and automation tooling
  • Previous experience in one of the three focus areas of blockchain node operations, validators as a service, and wallet infrastructure
  • Experience in a code-first environment, developing automated solutions to solve support and operational issues
  • Experience working with engineering teams, teaching, training, and mentoring on how to implement best-practice technical solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to convert theoretical security concepts into production
  • Solid understanding of Product Management and Product Ownership, Agile practices and methodologies
It Pays to Work Here
The compensation & benefits package for this role includes:
  • Competitive starting salary
  • A discretionary annual bonus
  • Long-term incentive in the form of a new hire equity grant
  • Comprehensive health plans
  • 401K with company matching
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Flexible time off

Salary Range: The base salary range for this role is between $136,000 - $170,000 in the State of New York, the State of California and the State of Washington. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. Headquarters: Fully remote company (worldwide, incorporated in France)
Do you care about contributing to open-source, and appreciate a good challenge? We do too! :)
Open-source
We are a team of veteran open-source developers, working on educational and community-based projects in an open-first environment – and we are looking for new members. By joining us, you will work full-time on open-source, pushing your changes to free software projects upstream through pull requests, contributing features, documentation, or help on public forums.
We care deeply about contributing our work upstream. You will see the results of your work reused and recognized across the educational community, increasing access to quality education for everyone, everywhere.
Remote-first
Unlike companies who reluctantly started to accept remote workers recently, we have embraced it from day 1. For the past 10 years, we have based and refined our way of working around remote-friendly workflows, from the ground up. No day-long video meetings, mandatory work hours, or risk of being forced back into an office one day -- as long as you have a good internet connection, it’s none of our business when or where you work from. :)
We are all working remotely, from all continents (except Antarctica, at least so far - applicants welcome!). We use remote-friendly and timezone-agnostic workflows based on asynchronous principles and good documentation practices.
Online education
We are one of the main contributors to the Open edX project, the main open-source MOOC platform created by MIT, Harvard and many other top universities. It powers sites like edX.org, the MIT Open Learning Library, and the national online learning platform for France. We provide development and hosting for institutions like Harvard Medical School, Harvard LabXchange, Cloudera, Autodesk, and several governments. We are not affiliated with edX.org, but we contribute and work with them on various projects.
Technical stack
The Open edX project is a large Python/Django codebase, with good code standards and architecture. Tasks are varied, from developing core platform features, custom exercises and tools for specific courses (XBlocks), customizing and deploying instances, working full-stack, operating our service infrastructure, improving our hosting platform, etc. You won't get bored here.
Contracting terms
This is a full-time, permanent contract position. We aim for long-term relationships -- once in, almost all team members stay for many years.
We care about paying fairly:
  • Team members set their own compensation level, which is paid based on hours worked (no unpaid overtime!).
  • When determining your rate, we will expect you to factor in benefits (vacation, healthcare, purchase budgets, etc.) - the idea is to let you pick the benefits that are useful to you, rather than offer one-size-fits-all packages that aren’t always very valuable.
  • We also proactively apply generous raises team-wide, based on the company results at the end of each year. See the details about how we approach compensation in our handbook.
We also firmly believe in work-life balance: as long as you deliver what you commit to, there is a lot of latitude in how much work you can choose to accept. We are open to time commitments anywhere in the 30h to 40h/week range, and highly discourage working more than that. It’s important to have time to ourselves, as well as having some slack, and there are diminishing returns in working more anyway. We are currently recruiting precisely to preserve that balance, and ensure we have plenty of capacity to handle our projects.
Culture and Work Style
We are a highly collaborative development team working in an agile environment. We have built a mostly flat organization, composed of 30 senior developers with a handful of support staff. You will be working with highly competent individuals who take responsibility for their work, and the same will be expected of you.
We belong to self-organized teams, so management doesn’t interfere with our day-to-day responsibilities and leadership is situational. You will lead some projects and join others. You will have a great deal of discretion in the work that you do and most of your work will be publicly viewable in the open-source community. Team members are continually learning from each other, and we place an emphasis on sustainable work practices and mental health. We help each other out when the unexpected happens and give kudos and recognition for work well done.
Camaraderie is strong, standards are high, and so is the retention rate. We invest in documentation, tests, and automation so that redundant work is minimized and team members can focus on more interesting problems. The work is completely remote – the entire sprint planning process is done asynchronously, and the sprint process itself is iteratively improved. We focus on minimizing meetings so when they do happen it’s for productive reasons. In order to make sure we still get some face time, we schedule optional social events to talk, play games, and engage in other activities. We also meet yearly in person at the Open edX Conference (in non-Covid times!), and use the opportunity to meet everyone, along with the rest of the community, and do a team retreat.
OpenCraft runs on the open first principle. Most of our conversations, code, and policies are publicly viewable.
Our handbook, like much of our work, is publicly viewable and you can find it at https://handbook.opencraft.com/
You can also visit our forums at https://forum.opencraft.com/
We welcome applicants of all genders and ethnicities.
Basic Requirements:
  • Experience with contributing to free software projects - small contributions are completely fine, but you must have at least one patch or pull request merged in a third-party project, or been a maintainer of an open source project with significant adoption. (Note that you can contribute now to satisfy this requirement - see for example the Open edX release issues, fixing one of these issues is a great way to match that requirement.)
  • Senior developer with 3+ years working with Python
  • Experience with Python web frameworks, specifically Django
  • 3+ years of HTML, Javascript, and CSS (experience with React and/or Typescript is a big plus!)
  • Experience with unit testing
  • Comfortable working in a Linux environment, specifically Debian or Ubuntu
  • Experience with databases: MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL
Additional Skills:
You will work on tasks from the following categories, but you can pick up the skills on the job if you haven't mastered these yet:
  • DevOps experience, especially on Debian/Ubuntu servers, Terraform, Vault, Packer, Prometheus, ELK, Docker. We are building a modern infrastructure and having a strong DevOps presence on top of core software engineering skills is a big plus with us.
  • Managing clients & projects from beginning to completion (senior developer)
  • Cloud computing, like AWS or Kubernetes
  • Configuration management tools such as Ansible, Consul
  • RabbitMQ, Redis & Elasticsearch
  • Mobile development (iOS and/or Android)
  • Public speaking at conferences (you would present a talk every year at the Open edX Con)
Apply for this Position
Our recruitment process differs from most other companies - we don’t believe resumes and traditional interviews to be particularly effective. Often, they tell more about how good someone is at interviewing, rather than at the actual work. So, our initial interview is lighter and easier to pass than in other companies - but we then provide you with real (and paid!) work to see how it works out in reality.
  • Step 1: You apply by filling out this form: https://opencraft.com/jobs/open-source-developer/
  • Step 2: We do two interviews with candidates matching the requirements listed above. The first interview includes a (simple) coding exercise.
  • Step 3: If this works out, we hire you! We start with a 2 months trial period, which allows both you and the rest of the team to fully evaluate how we work together, and is followed by a final review and confirmation.

About us

Forward Labs (https://forwardlabs.ai/) is building superhumans, autonomous AI agents for global freight — the backbone of the global economy — a trillion-dollar industry. (think scale.ai for freight)
The company was founded in San Francisco by 3 friends from Xendit (YC S15, 1st YC unicorn in Asia from Berkeley) — early employees of an exited AI startup & 3 Y Combinator-backed startups from 0 to $1b+.
We’re now a fully remote team 🇺🇲🇨🇦🇰🇷🇵🇭🇸🇬. Our team is still quite small (<10) — so you’ll have a massive impact on the trajectory of the business from Day One + working with the founders directly and learning about Silicon Valley & emerging market experience.
Backed by Maple VC, Village Global (with LPs such as Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, etc.), and other Silicon Valley investors and logistics leaders.

What we’re building

Our platform, Forward AI, allows forwarders to automate their processes from booking to tracking and billing - so they can grow their businesses to move goods seamlessly without hiring more staff
Forwarders lose business when they book late. It takes 10-40 emails to book a cargo. Human Agents take 1-5 days on each booking — our AI Agent cuts it to minutes. It cuts costs too, by procuring from 10+ carriers instead of 3. This adds up to 1000s of cargo each day.
Specifically, provision it with a corporate email, and our AI Agent takes care of inquiry, approval, quotation, procurement, and billing. It runs on GPT to talk to shippers, employees & carriers. And, we built a backend OS to pull pricing data & log new bookings like a TMS.

About the role

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with various stakeholders (primarily clients & customer success team) to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications
  • Develop across technology stacks, including frontend, backend, databases, DevOps, automated testing, and alerting systems
  • Work across the entire product lifecycle from conceptualization to production
  • Architect and develop end-to-end operational solutions leveraging AI platform - focusing on accuracy, speed, and scalability
  • Design and develop robust integrations with various external freight (TMS) & communication (email) systems - utilizing APIs or RPAs
  • Write high-quality, maintainable, and testable code
  • Proactively seek and implement improvements to the team’s processes, codebases, and best practices
Example projects
  • Interoperable operational dashboard: to build a production-ready command center with the correct abstraction - supporting a variety of tasks with minimal customizations.
  • Multi-tenant workforce tool: to develop operational tools & integrations with reliability and scalability incorporated
  • Realtime document ingestion: to establish data ingestion infrastructure for both structured and unstructured data
  • Reverse engineering third-party software: to figure out the right architecture to integrate with external software without APIs - RPAs
  • Email onboarding/integration: to design 2-way integrations with multiple email providers, which even non-technical users can initiate
  • Automated QA: QA automation for UIs, internal APIs, and external integrations
Tech stack
We are tech-stack agnostic in terms of the skill sets we are looking for, but the tech stack looks like the below (expect this to change as we grow):
  • LLMs: OpenAI, Hugging Face, Mistral, DocumentAI
  • Backend: Python, FastAPI, Typescript, Supabase
  • Frontend: Next.js, GraphQL, Refine
  • Infrastructure: AWS, GCP, Docker
A great fit, some or all of the following
  • Strong understanding of system designs (idempotency, circuit breaker, message queues, etc)
  • Familiarity with unit, integration, and E2E test frameworks
  • Familiarity with instrumenting monitoring systems for ensuring the quality of the products in production (Sentry, Pagerduty)
  • Is scrappy, comfortable with ambiguity, taking end-to-end ownership to ship, and values progress over perfection
  • Wants to set, maintain, and adhere to great software engineering standards (architecture review, comments, testing, documentation)
  • Never bored of spending time on your favorite newsfeed (e.g. Twitter, GitHub) browsing the latest computer concepts, codebase, and system designs
  • Are enthusiastic about the vertical applications of AI/LLMs in logistics & future of work in particular
  • Comfortable communicating in English
Bonus points
  • Experience working with AI/freight startups
  • Familiarity with AWS & GCP
  • Want to be a founder someday
  • Strong remote working communication skills

Interview Process

We expect the process to be complete within weeks.
  1. Video Call with founder(s): Values, culture-fit, getting to know more about you, and answer your questions about Forward Labs.
  2. [If needed] Take-home assignment/sample work submission
  3. Work trial (2 days to 1 week depending on availability and scope): to help you get a sense of how it feels to work with Forward Labs and vice versa. This will include, but not limited to - system architecture, prototyping, demo
Email email for more details.

Coinbase Developer Platform (CDP) is building the developer tools to bring the world onchain.

Today, onchain development is slow, risky, and painful, even for the most experienced onchain developers. Our goal is to bring a million developers onchain by creating an easy to use and trusted developer experience. We build API and SDK products for developers like wallets, paymaster, staking, stablecoins, onchain data, and more.

We are a small team that moves like a startup at Coinbase, with a fast pace, strong ownership culture, and a relentless commitment to making developers happy.

The Coinbase Platform APIs are the easiest way for developers to get started with building crypto applications. Conceived by Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, these APIs enable those with no prior knowledge of crypto to begin sending and receiving crypto in as little as 30 seconds. A top priority of the Coinbase Developer Platform (CDP), the Platform APIs encapsulate some of the most cutting-edge technologies in crypto by externalizing Coinbase’s internal services, built over more than a decade of experience. The Platform APIs combine custodial and non-custodial wallets into one clean abstraction, making interactions with the blockchain simple and painless.

Coinbase Developer Platform and the Dev Portal is the destination for building and integrating web3 solutions, services, and products. We partner with other Coinbase products such as Base, Wallets-as-a-service, Staking, CB Pay, Advanced Trading, Commerce, Exchange so web3 developers can start building their onchain apps in minutes.

The Platform API team owns both server-side APIs and client-side libraries across different languages. The team seeks a full-stack engineer who is passionate about all aspects of excellent developer experiences: authoring clear and informative documentation, building compelling sample applications, interacting directly with customers to incorporate feedback, architecting delightfully simple SDKs, etc. The engineer must be comfortable operating in both frontend and backend codebases, fluent across a variety of programming languages, and demonstrate both high code velocity and quality simultaneously. The Platform API team consists of some of the most prolific and tenured software engineers at Coinbase, and is excited to ship a game-changing set of APIs and SDKs at breakneck speed.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems for the Platform APIs using Go and Javascript
  • Define and maintain clean and conformant HTTP REST API definitions using OpenAPI specifications
  • Design, develop, and maintain ergonomic, open-source SDKs to interact with the Platform APIs using Ruby, Typescript, Go, Python, and Java
  • Author, publish, and maintain clear and concise documentation, including quickstart and how-to guides, to increase adoption of the Platform APIs and SDKs
  • Develop secure and scalable key management systems, packaged as Docker images, to enable crypto wallet functionality across a range of custodial configurations (e.g. self-custodial MPC)
  • Work closely with many different teams at Coinbase to externalize their backend services through the Platform APIs, ensuring consistency of concepts, style, and design
  • Interface directly with customers to collect their feedback and iteratively improve the Platform APIs and SDKs
  • Build compelling sample applications end-to-end using the Platform APIs and SDKs to demonstrate their value and pressure-test the developer experience
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex fullstack issues, ensuring stability, reliability, and security
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain high code quality standards

What we look for in you:

  • 6+ years of experience in both backend and frontend software development
  • Mastery of Go and JavaScript; experience with Ruby, TypeScript, Python, and Java is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an eye for detail and a passion for clear, comprehensive developer documentation
  • Strong understanding of crypto wallets, including key management, cryptography, and blockchain protocols (e.g. EVM)
  • Proven track record of designing, developing, and shipping high-quality, ergonomic client-side libraries and SDKs
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and event-driven architectures
  • Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB) and caching systems (Redis, Memcached)
  • Solid knowledge of RESTful API design principles and experience with API development and integration
  • Familiarity with AWS and containerization technologies like Kubernetes
  • Understanding of security best practices and experience with implementing secure coding practices for financial systems

Job #: GDFS05NA

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include target bonus + target equity + benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).

Pay Range:

Ever wish your CEO encouraged you to write more automated tests? Or even just understood their importance? Want to work where clean code isn’t a luxury but a priority?
Our founder and CEO is a developer himself
, and our elegant code is the vein that keeps our company healthy and growing. You’ll never have to advocate for the importance of investing in code quality. You can save time (and frustrations) and spend it on doing what matters in a healthy, collaborative environment where your ideas, energy and time are valued.
You’ll be involved in all cycles of software development, including decision making, so there are incredible opportunities for you to take initiative, make meaningful contributions, and grow. Forget political struggles or long, pointless debates. You’ll be in a team with minimal distance between word and action, where decisions are made ultra-fast.
This is a rare opportunity to work exclusively with senior-level developers in a diverse, highly organized, result-driven environment where you can thrive personally and professionally.
You’ll become an essential part of our team, someone who is making a direct impact on not only the core product and reputation of our organization but also the whole world of education and beyond!
The IxDF is the global leader in online UX/UI design education. We hold the trust of industry giants like Adobe and IBM, who rely on our courses to train their teams. Prestigious universities, including MIT and the University of Cambridge, use our material into their curricula. Help us take online education to new heights and make a meaningful impact on humankind. We’re entering our third decade with over 170,000 graduates.
We’re proud to have assembled
a remarkable team of unicorns who uplift, motivate, and push each other to excel daily. There's a seat open for someone who shares our passion for excellence. Could that be you?
Project Overview
Our flagship product
is a vast platform with over 30+ sub-domains for online courses, masterclasses, online forums, and community meet-ups in 508 cities in 107 countries. We understand what PHP developers need to thrive, and we've created an environment that delivers.
  • Close to Legacy-Free Codebase. We know how technical debt and legacy code can turn into quicksand, so we continually eradicate it. Some examples include the complete rewrite of our notification and payment system and numerous enhancements made to our course platform.
  • Consistent Coding Standards. We are proud of our strict coding standards, which is the cornerstone of our clean and maintainable codebase. You can find numerous examples in the IxDF Handbook, which includes our conventions for PHP, Laravel, SQL, JavaScript, and CSS, along with other useful resources. You can also find other examples in the IxDF UI Kit, which we’re currently rebuilding into an industry-leading  Design System and our handy IxDF component library
  • Crystal-Clear Documentation. Clarity is key. Any line of code should be a succinct, well-crafted, and self-explanatory piece of communication to your future self or your colleague. To string things together, we mix in just the right amount of documentation, with best practices such as focusing on the “why?” and keeping it simple.
  • Focus on what matters: Our CI/CD pipeline uses quality tools such as Psalm, PHPStan, Rector, PHPCS, PHP-CS-Fixer, Deptrac, phpcpd, and ESLint to ensure consistency and code quality. This means we’re almost bug-free despite having numerous, zero-downtime, fully automated deployments to production every day. We don’t like bugs and would rather focus on what matters most.
  • Test Coverage: "The only way to go fast, is to go well - Robert C. Martin”. We love automated testing, especially Unit Tests, and use TDD as much as we can. We've been increasing our test coverage over the years, reaching an overall 38% test coverage throughout the system, with critical systems having over 80% test coverage.
The Stack You Will Work On
#UseThePlatform. We focus on enduring technologies over the latest fleeting frameworks so that our developers' knowledge continually grows instead of becoming outdated after each trend has passed.
This philosophy allows us to build robust, maintainable and beautiful code that stands the test of time, rather than chasing the latest hype. Some of our key technologies include:
  • Always latest PHP and Laravel versions
  • Modular monolith comprising 30+ modules with bounded contexts
  • Laravel ecosystem: Horizon, Nova, Scout, Pennant, Passport, Inertia, and more
  • Web Components, Htmx, Tailwind, Vue.js, Inertia.js,Vite
  • Server: Docker, Sail, Octane, Forge, ngin
  • DBs: MySQL 8, Redis (Pub/Sub, Cache, Queue Driver)
  • Testing: PHPUnit, Laravel Dusk, Cypress
  • Advanced CI/CD: GitHub actions, Deployer, Bash
  • Code Quality: Psalm, PHPStan, Rector, PHPCS, PHP_CS_Fixer, Phpcpd
  • Integrations: Stripe, PayPal, Amazon Pay, Twilio, Mailgun, MailerLite, GitHub, Forge, Coconut, ImageKit, and more
  • Cloud: AWS, GCP, and Digital Ocean
  • APM & Monitoring: NewRelic, CloudWatch, BugSnag, GTMetrix
What You Will Be Doing
We are committed to excellence, and we seek a like-minded enthusiast to join us. This role is not for the average; it's a calling for a true clean code evangelist
  • Ahead of you is a highly rewarding and enriching journey on which you’ll make an impact as you: Contribute to the development of the back-end modules for interaction-design.org, encompassing new feature development, constant refactoring, and infrequent bug fixing.
  • Write maintainable and clean code, covered with clean automated tests, including contributions to our open-source packages.

The Role: Staff Software Engineer (Infrastructure)

The infrastructure team at Gemini creates and manages tools and platforms, automates the creation and support of this infrastructure, helps integrate complex processes, and supports secure data access. We take a software-first mindset to use code to make and maintain our software infrastructure. We seek engineers who think of themselves as a software engineer first, with correlated expertise in back-end engineering.

Our team builds and operates environments for the purpose of digital asset access. There are three main pillars of work including building and running network nodes, building and running validators, and supporting our next generation wallet infrastructure. In these pillars, we use and implement tools and software to support our cloud-based infrastructure. Given the need to build and integrate more of our software in the cloud, the ideal engineer will have extensive experience in developing, automating, and building software with associated cloud expertise (e.g., AWS or GCP). This engineer will also work closely with various teams including various teams such as Protocols, Product Security, On-chain, and Custody.

We are a dynamic group with both entrepreneurial spirit and security engineering experience. Senior Full Stack Dev using Ruby on Rails the Rails Way! (No React)

Location: Remote
About the Opportunity
We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer to join us at Nearcut. You will join a small team dedicated to building impactful and maintainable software. No day will be the same — you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks across the business. Your opinions and ideas will shape our tech stack.
As a Senior Full Stack Developer, you will collaborate closely with our technical founder and development team. Your work will impact millions of customers and help us continue to expand across Europe. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality and fully tested features.
Our product is built on Ruby on Rails. Our stack includes RSpec, MySQL, Docker Compose, Rubocop and Stimulus. We build software the Rails way and are not concerned with the latest JS framework craze. Currently, we use Ruby 2.7 and Rails 6.0. Five years ago we adopted Test Driven Development in all of our work and our test suite covers around 95% of our code base, keeping bugs to an absolute minimum and allowing us to focus on new features.  We have built our own component system using Github's View Component gem. When it comes to CSS, we use BEM.
Your expertise
  • You have at least 7 years of professional software development experience in Ruby on Rails
  • You love using Test Driven Development in all of your work
  • You have used Stimulus before in a project
  • You are very comfortable writing clean HTML/CSS
  • You don’t like React
  • You have a passion for building beautiful object-oriented software
  • You have implemented numerous full-stack features in production applications from scratch
  • You appreciate having end-to-end ownership of your work including deployment and responding to issues: you build it, you own it and you run it
  • You take an active interest in best practices
  • You enjoy learning new skills and tackling different technical challenges
  • You are attentive to problems and want to help customers succeed
  • You have experience working in startups
Your responsibilities
You'll be a crucial individual contributor on our small but capable development team.
  • Implement and deploy new features, using TDD and refactoring your work to meet best practices
  • Review tests and refactor sub-standard code as you come across it
  • Implement new View Components using HTML/CSS/Stimulus
  • Review PRs from your colleagues across different parts of the product
  • Embrace and adopt the company's style of writing Rails apps (trust us, it works)
  • Offer feedback on code reviews to help others to improve
  • Iterate and tailor your work based on feedback from customers and colleagues
  • Plan your implementation approach before starting to code
  • Investigate and fix bugs as they are reported (with a strong test suite, these are rare for us!)
  • You can be available for some calls between 10:00 - 14:00 UTC
Your first month
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of our product and understand our development cycle by:
    • Reviewing our guidelines
    • Reviewing our existing codebase
    • Reviewing other developers' pull requests
    • Asking questions as you go
  • Build and deploy at least one new fully tested feature
Benefits of our working environment
  • Remote-first: We are a remote-first company without an in-person office. We trust our employees to work flexibily and autonomously to efficiently meet business goals.
  • Flexible working hours: Aside from a couple of weekly meetings and availability during core hours, we are happy for you to complete your work whenever you’re most productive.
  • Close team: Although we work remotely, our team is close knit and colleagues are always there to help one another.
  • Great customer feedback: Our customers are small business owners who are very appreciative of the work that we do to solve problems in their businesses
  • Bootstrapped: We have never raised external capital. We have no distractions from past or future investors. We're entirely focused on helping our customers and we're taking our time to build a reliable product and grow sustainably.
  • Small business: No hierarchy or politics, just focus on efficiently building quality features that customers love.
“Everyone is pulling in the same direction and supports each other. I've never worked for a company that gets so much positive feedback from the clients - we can really see the impact of our work. I also enjoy that fact that we work remotely and can be flexible.”
- Nearcut colleague for more than 3 years

- Nearcut colleague for more than 1 year
The nitty gritty
  • An annual salary of between 50,000$ USD - 75,000$ USD gross, depending on technical ability and experience.
  • 33 flexible holiday days per year. Since our remote-first team is based all over the world, you can choose whether or not to take time off on  your country’s public holidays.
